What is a surface grinder?
A surface grinder is a machine that processes the surface of a metal with the end face or periphery of a grinding wheel.
Such processing has high precision down to microns and is well suited for grinding flat surfaces of various metal parts.
Processing on a surface grinder is convenient in that it is fastened with electromagnets. And constant improvements in the processing mechanism make it possible to process not only a flat surface of products but also a horse-shaped one.
The principle of operation of the surface grinder
The principle of operation of a surface grinder is quite simple. The equipment has 3 main parts, thanks to which the metal grinding process takes place. This is a movable worktable, hydraulic system, and grinding headstock with a spindle.
The work process is as follows:
The hydraulic drive drives the movable table, which has either a round or rectangular shape. An abrasive wheel is installed on the grinding headstock. When the whole structure is set in motion, the grinding wheel comes into contact with the product and removes part of the metal, leveling and grinding it.
The surface grinding machine is designed for high precision grinding of metal products. Therefore, it is used for grinding a large number of metal products in the production of various parts.
